Why You Should Advertise Your Free Ebooks

Hello Authors, I’m back with some great information. 🙂 I recently mounted a successful book launch campaign for The Beginning Author’s Handbook which included 2 days of offering the book for free through Amazon’s KDP Select option.

During the promotion, I ran ads on Facebook and Amazon, which cost me a total of $45, during this time, the book page was visited almost 3,000 times and the book was downloaded 115 times.  Here’s a screenshot of the results.

The big bump on the left is the 115 free downloads during the promotion, and the small bump afterward is the 3 sales I have made since the free promotion ended.  During the time between the two bumps, 3 positive reviews were posted on my book’s sales page. That’s why I advertised the free book promotion, and that’s why I’m starting to see sales now so soon. I have the social proof of some good reviews, and also, when people download your book for free, Amazon will start to show ‘also boughts’ with your book, which means that your book will also show up in other book pages also boughts, which increases your books visibility drastically.

To sum up: Advertising a new book during a free promotion can help you get some early reviews and populate you in the also boughts, which increases the visibility of your book, as well as your book’s credibility and reputation, which ultimately results in sales.

Magnify and Multiply by Jason P Doherty

Hey Beginning Authors and blog readers, today is the day that I launch my Beginning Authors Handbook – Magnify and Multiply!  This is the book that I have written expressly for writers who are ready to take themselves and their craft to the next level and become published indie authors.

To help as many people as possible, I am giving the book away for free to everyone who joins the Beginning Authors Mailing LIst.

I care a lot about both readers and writers. Helping to create more successful and talented authors and book creators makes the world a better – and more interesting place. With that in mind, I have written this book. It’s a ringer for people who want to write better books, publish them effectively, and market them successfully.

When you are a writer, it is important to learn as much as you can about your craft. I learned a lot while writing this book, so I am confident that the same will go for the beginning writers and authors who read it.

Thanks for checking out the book, and here’s to you: Happy Writing!

Book Review: Guerilla Publishing by Derek Murphy

TEACH THE INTERNET TO SELL YOUR BOOKS FOR YOU

Derek Murphy is the guy who rented a castle in France to host a writer’s retreat for NaNoWriMo in 2016. He hosts the popular experimental author’s blog Creativindie.com. He has just released a great new book about publishing. If you want to increase your book’s visibility and sales, you should read it.

This book Guerrilla Marketing by Derek Murphy is essential for indie authors in 2017. Hands down, Derek Murphy has created and experimented with some of the most innovative approaches to what a lot of people would call book marketing. However, a lot of what Derek does is actually hard to call marketing, because his methods are simply so unorthodox. He may be revolutionizing marketing, and a year from now, this may be exactly what people are talking about in the book marketing world, but today, it’s easier to say that Guerrilla Publishing is about book propagation.

In the book, Derek expounds on some of the experimental techniques he has been using to quietly build large followings before book launches in order to create a targeted list of genre fans before he releases a book, then when the book is released, Derek offers it to his lists, and many of them become paying customers. Also, the importance of the list in generating early reviews for newly launched books is heavily stressed. Derek shows you how to do all this, and anyone can do it.

There is some amazing methods for boosting your book and brand’s SEO, and ways to make SURE that your books show up first or near first in search results on Google and Amazon. You really need to read this book if you want to understand more about how books are found, categorized and made extremely visible to customers.

One of the best pieces of advice I gathered from Guerrilla Publishing was to decide to write a successful book before putting pen to paper so to speak. In order to succeed as an author, we need to create books that will actually sell cop[ies, and as much as writing for passion is appealing, writing for readers is often a wise choice, since they are the ones who buy our books and pay our bills. I have adopted the mantra Write For Readers since reading this book.

There is an enormous amount of helpful information in this book, and I have barely scratched the surface. Let me just say that I have read about 20 books on the subject of independent self publiishing and the whole business side of being an independent author, and Guerrilla Publishing is in the top 3, along with the Kindle Publishing Bible by Tom Corson-Knowles and The Self Publishing Manual by Dan Poynter.

Read Guerilla Publishing be Derek Murphy and get a leg up in the publishing world, you will be glad you did.
