Why You Should Advertise Your Free Ebooks

Hello Authors, I’m back with some great information. 🙂 I recently mounted a successful book launch campaign for The Beginning Author’s Handbook which included 2 days of offering the book for free through Amazon’s KDP Select option.

During the promotion, I ran ads on Facebook and Amazon, which cost me a total of $45, during this time, the book page was visited almost 3,000 times and the book was downloaded 115 times.  Here’s a screenshot of the results.

The big bump on the left is the 115 free downloads during the promotion, and the small bump afterward is the 3 sales I have made since the free promotion ended.  During the time between the two bumps, 3 positive reviews were posted on my book’s sales page. That’s why I advertised the free book promotion, and that’s why I’m starting to see sales now so soon. I have the social proof of some good reviews, and also, when people download your book for free, Amazon will start to show ‘also boughts’ with your book, which means that your book will also show up in other book pages also boughts, which increases your books visibility drastically.

To sum up: Advertising a new book during a free promotion can help you get some early reviews and populate you in the also boughts, which increases the visibility of your book, as well as your book’s credibility and reputation, which ultimately results in sales.
